Paralyzed Veterans of America

In 1946, a band of servicemen and women returning from World War II duties founded an organization to address the special needs that bound them as a group: needs arising from spinal cord injury or dysfunction (SCI/D). Today, Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) is the only service organization dedicated to the needs presented by armed forces veterans who have suffered SCI/D and its activities have been recognized through congressional charter.

Applying the unique expertise it has garnered through its work with thousands of members, PVA seeks to be the foremost advocate for the quality of their healthcare, to maximize legitimate benefits accruing from their military service, and to highlight civil rights and opportunities that may enhance their independence.

PVA asked Reef Light to redesign its website to achieve, in particular, an increase in site traffic, especially by returning visitors; to increase the number of PVA members using preferred service providers partnering with PVA; to increase the number and quality of corporate sponsors; and to raise the level of individual donations made through the site.

In response, we worked with PVA to produce, among other improvements, a more modern-looking, uncluttered site, presenting the story of PVA and its members with more brevity and impact. We also restructured the information architecture of the site to simplify navigation particularly for key visitors such as veterans, members, donors and caregivers. To promote a growth in sponsorship, we sought to increase the site exposure of each sponsor.
