Conquest Tactics

Conquest Tactics is a strategy trading card game based on the fantasy genre. The game takes place in a battlefield environment, with players selecting their troops, arming them with spells, skills, and equipment with which they wage war, attacking or defending as appropriate. Strategic troop upgrades, alternative play circumstances, and resources known as Tactical Points are available to contenders in their roles as commanders, deck builders, and card players in their quest for victory.
The game is in the final stages of development by Zeitgeyser LLC, the brainchild of its president, Andrew Niggles. In the realization that the game he had been designing as a hobby could be enjoyed by thousands of gamers nationwide, he started the company in 2009 with three college friends who shared his passion for creativity and the marketing of innovative products. Since then the team has been strengthened by the addition of a group of talented artists and game testers.
The Zeitgeyser Business Team asked Reef Light Interactive to build a website for Conquest Tactics, and to design the frames for a set of playing cards plus some packaging for the game.
The requirements for the website design included the following specific objectives:
- To highlight and emphasize the various aspects of Conquest Tactics
- To generate interest and excitement in the game
- To act as a marketing tool
- To foster participation in a Conquest Tactics community
- To inspire site visitors to spread the word and help bring the game to market
We created a medieval, fantasy-themed website. To showcase one Conquest Tactic’s competitive advantages, its artwork, we created a sliding branding area on the homepage that gives a taste for the game itself but really captures the eyes of the user with the incredible game illustrations. The entire site was built using the ExpressionEngine content management system.
In addition to the website, we designed 16 playing cards templates, each with a printed size of 2.5”x3.5”. Different card types are indicated by color variations that don’t affect their homogeneity. Additionally, different card types were designed to include various gaming elements such as numerical values for resource costs, health, attack, and space for text additions.
Lastly, our five packaging designs were created to emphasize the individuality of each product without losing their shared sense of association with Conquest Tactics. The character of the brand and the feeling invoked by the story and context of these first sets are also illustrated by these designs.
