Somatics is a mind-body system of education and exercise founded by Thomas Hanna to facilitate the ease and reversal of all kinds of problems associated with injury, movement, and stress. After the tragic loss of the founder in a fatal car crash in 1990, the Association for Hanna Somatic Education (AHSE) formed to continue and promote his work, and to provide a platform for the mutual support of members in their ongoing development and individual practices. Other activities include:

• Conducting public programs to introduce and promote Hanna Somatic Education®.

• Maintenance of members’ professional standards through statements defining Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics.

• Holding an Annual Convention with workshops open to all, and links to other training and learning opportunities nationwide.

AHSE called on Reef Light Interactive (through our friends at Vim Interactive) to redesign its obsolete website in a way which would renew its authority. The brief required that the redesigned site should communicate AHSE’s findings and services as revolutionary, science-based, and valuable. The redesign would also need to take account of a target audience falling mainly in the 55+ age group. It was also important to the Association that the redesign overall should emphasize its identity as an educational institution rather than a business organization selling a service/belief.
