America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP)

AHIP advocates for public policies that expand access to affordable health care coverage to all Americans through a competitive marketplace that fosters choice, quality and innovation. AHIP commissioned Reef Light for a very unique and exciting project to essentially, through the design of an interactive, forward-thinking iPad application, capture the ears and eyes of Congressmen on Capitol Hill to:

1. Identify the problem – health care spending/costs have been increasing overtime at an alarming rate

2. Explain why this is happening – what is making up health care spending/costs

3. Illustrate through dynamic data visualizations what this means for the budget and the economy

Specifically, the goals would be met through three prongs:

1. Advocacy – Allow federal and state lobbyists, member companies, and communications professionals to drive the industry’s message on health care costs and premiums in a compelling, interactive fashion

2. Education – Serve as a resource to provide critical information about health care costs using various credible data sources to showcase components of health care spending and costs.

3. Aggregation – Aggregates all of the costs studies and research on health care costs in one place.
